Dean began his career in the financial services industry in 1997 with Solomon Smith Barney in Sydney, working in Trade Support for options and futures traders. Two years later, he moved to the United Kingdom, combining his passion for rugby with his career, supporting the Wallabies at the Rugby World Cup before joining Bank of America Futures Inc. There, he worked in a middle-office role supporting Europe’s largest options and futures trading desk.
On returning to Australia in 2003, Dean transitioned into banking, holding senior roles at HSBC, NAB Private, Westpac Private Bank, and ANZ Private Bank. His experience across these institutions gave him a deep understanding of lending, private banking, and client service.
In his current role at Cutcher & Neale, Dean is most proud of building the Residential and Commercial Finance division from a one-person operation into a core arm of the business. Today, the division has a team of credit advisers and support professionals across offices in Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
Dean is known for his candid, knowledgeable, and passionate approach. He specialises in breaking down complex lending structures and investment pathways into simple, practical terms, giving clients clarity and confidence in their financial decisions, particularly when purchasing property.
Outside of work, Dean is heavily involved in his children’s sporting lives, often stepping into coaching or manager roles across soccer, cricket, touch football, basketball, and rugby. For him, it’s a rewarding way to combine his love of sport with quality family time.
