Did you know that directors of a company (does not apply to co-operatives) registered under the Corporations Act are required by law to apply for a director identification number (director ID)?
The date this is required by will depend on when you were appointed.
- Directors appointed before 1 November 2021 have until 30 November 2022 to apply.
- New directors appointed between 1 November 2021 and 4 April 2022 must apply within 28 days of their appointment.
- From 5 April 2022, those intending to become directors must apply before being appointed.
Applications can be made via the Australian Business Registry Services website https://www.abrs.gov.au/director-identification-number.
